Why is my AURA monitor not working after installing multiple drivers (SM76X and SM77X)?

Why is my AURA monitor not working after installing multiple drivers (SM76X and SM77X)?

If you've installed drivers for multiple AURA DISPLAYS products — for example, a Dual Boost model (SM76X) and a Triple Boost model (SM77X) — you may encounter conflicts that prevent your portable monitor from working correctly. These drivers are not meant to be run together on the same machine.

We recommend keeping only the driver that matches the monitor you're currently using. Below is a step-by-step guide to properly uninstalling one driver before installing the other, for both macOS and Windows.

How to uninstall the SM76X or/and SM77X driver on macOS

  1. Launch the InstantView application that is still running.
  2. In the top-right corner of your macOS menu bar, click on the InstantView icon (it looks like a small monitor).
  3. Select "Remove application" or "Quit and Uninstall".

Disable screen recording permissions

Before installing the new driver, it’s important to remove any screen recording permissions linked to the old one:

  1. Go to System Settings (or System Preferences on older macOS versions).
  2. Navigate to Privacy & Security > Screen Recording.
  3. Locate macOS InstantView in the list and uncheck it (disable).
  4. Reboot your system

Reinstall the correct driver

  1. Restart your computer after uninstalling the previous version and disabling permissions.
  2. Download the correct version (SM76X or SM77X) for your monitor from our Technical Specifications page.
  3. Follow the installation instructions in the User Manual and be sure to re-enable screen recording when prompted during setup.

How to uninstall the SM76X or SM77X driver on Windows

  1. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a Program.
  2. Find InstantView in the list and click Uninstall.
  3. Once uninstalled, restart your computer.
  4. Then, download and install the appropriate version for your product from our Technical Specifications page.

Reminder

Installing both versions (SM76X and SM77X) on the same machine can result in one or more monitors not functioning properly. If you switch between multiple AURA monitors often, we recommend using only one driver at a time and fully uninstalling the other as explained above.
